Mattie Stepanek

1. Who was Mattie Stepanek?

Answer : His real name is Matthew Joseph Thaddeus Stepanek (July 17, 1990 – June 22, 2004 ) was an American poet, who had six books of poetry and one book of essays all reach the New York Times bestsellers list.


2. Why do you think he is famous?


Answer : Because he just a little kid that suffered from a rare form of muscular dystrophy and dysautonomic metochondrial myophaty but manage to be one of the best poetry and also make six books of poetry and one book of essays. He also considered as a peacemaker.


3. What is posthumously?


Answer : It is an award to someone after their death such as medal.


4. What does President Jimmy Carter means when he said "Think Gently, Speak Gently, Live Gently" and "a poet, a peacemaker, and a philosopher who played" ?


Answer : The mean of  "Think Gently, Speak Gently, Live Gently" is that in this life we may facing a bad time. However, we have to face and solve it one by one until we manage to solve the problem. It was not about you are slow or fast on solving it, but it is about how you solve it. Because in the end you will solve the problem too. And the mean of "a poet, a peacemaker, and a philosopher who played" is Mattie Stepanek was a person who shows an important role as a poetry, as a peacemaker and also philosopher.

Oprah Winfrey

1. Has anyone ever influenced you in the way Sidnye Poitier Influenced Oprah Winfrey? Explain.

Answer : Yes, that was my senior in my secondary school named Ridwan. he is the best student for our school in SPM 2010. they way of her study make me feel that i have to be someone like him or even better. this is because i'am always failed in my examination in school and i dont know how to overcome my problem. But when i met him. he said to me that to make our dream come true we have to try our best. then, I try to make my best by studying hard and the result is I'am become the best student of our school.

2 List two enormous obstacles Oprah had to face as a child.

Answer : She was born to unwed teenage parents and living in a segregated society.

3. who raised Oprah until she was 6? Where was she raised until she was six?

Answer : She awas raised by her maternal grandmother  on a farm in rural Mississippi.

4 : Why do you think Oprah does charity work with families in Africa?

Answer : In my opinion, Oprah does charity work with families in Africa is because she have already experienced living in hard life. the experience that she had make her can feel the others feelings and that why she does that chariy work.

5 : Why do you think Poitier write this article? Explain your answer.

Answer : Because he want all of people think and that living in a hard time doesn't mean we can't become a successful man if we are dare to try hard and do all the best in our life. just like Oprah, who has a hard time childhood. But, she manage to become a successful woman and even the best example for us.

6 : Based on this selection, what do you think of Oprah Winfrey/do you like her? do you think reading about her will have an influence on your life? explain your answer.

Answer : Oprah is a good example for us and i like her too. reading about her absolutely influenced me. this is because she overcome her own problem by her own way without giving up to became the best. she make me realized that in this life we might faced a problem than we think we can handle. bu, actually when we think various way and try the best to overcome the problem there is no problem on solving it.
